Building with Stones

IMG_2498.jpg This picture has the essential colors I have seen in Aleppo.
IMG_2514.jpg: From the rooftop of our friend's home, a brand new mosque was begging us to come visit. We did, inside and outside.

IMG_2523.jpg: A great many homes are plated with that type of yellowish stone
IMG_2527.jpg: You will often seen that emerald green color used on the roof of mosque. I've been read that it is a symbol of tolerance.

A Beautiful Mosque

Thanks to a friend I've been granted access inside the mosque, at the exact moment when the prayer began.

On image 2558 below you may notice how the iman is holding his right hand close to his ear while praying aloud in the microphone. At the same time, a few feet behind, note the posture of the man.

The Citadel

The Aleppo Citadel reflects occupation dating back most probably to at least the 4th millennium B.C.

The Great Souk

The Aleppo souk, unlike the Damascus one, is covered by stone archways for about 30 km. This makes it the longest covered market of the Middle East.

Street Views

Aleppo, in the north of Syria one hour away of the Turkish border, is the second largest city
after Damascus.
